Trim’s award-winning music group Gluais are delighted to be returning to the stage with their annual Christmas Show this December, all in aid of the Irish Cancer Society. This will be Gluais’ first time to put on a concert in Swift Cultural Centre, and it really is a show you don’t want to miss!
The members of Gluais from Scoil Mhuire Secondary School in Trim have certainly made a name for themselves over the past 12 years, gaining much credit and acclaim for their polished performances and pitch perfect vocals. On Monday 18th December & Tuesday 19th December, you can see them perform live in all their glory as they take to the stage for their 8th annual Gluais Christmas Show. This is a festive night of Christmas songs and carols performed by the 40 strong band of teenagers, including singers, trad musicians & Irish dancers. All proceeds and profits from the night will be donated directly to the Irish Cancer Society – a very worthy charity.
Last year, Gluais’ Christmas concert was a sell-out show, with people unfortunately turned away at the door, so getting your tickets early is advisable. Their youthful energy and harmonious blend with Irish traditional music brought all the Christmas classics to life, leaving the audience on their feet for a standing ovation. Over half the tickets for this year’s concert are sold already, so make sure and pick up yours soon. They are available to buy online at www.swiftculturalcentre.ie or indeed in person at their reception desk in Trim. Indeed, this is not the only performance Gluais will do this Christmas season. On 14th December, Gluais will be travelling to Crumlin Children’s Hospital to visit and perform for the children and parents on the hospital wards. Gluais musical director Mícheál Kerr notes that this is “one of their Christmas highlights every year”.
