The girls from Scoil Mhuire competed in the DCU Schools Invitational Cross Country in DCU grounds on Wednesday 16th January. Kerrie Cole ran in the Minor U14 race, was 2nd place and was just pipped for 1st. She ran a very strong race leading the whole race until the end . Well done to Kerrie! The Minor girls ran 1,000m with over 150 athletes in the race. They were placed 13th for team. They were Anna O’Hare, Kerrie Cole, Ava Cannon and Kate Carroll.
The Junior U15 girls race ran 1,600m with over 100 athletes. Katie Mulchrone ran a very strong race and came 1st overall. Last year she was 4th so this was a huge achievement for her! The junior girls team got 3rd place also. They were Katie Mulchrone, Emma Gibney, Aoife Swan, Aoife Gallagher, michelle Brien, Kate McLoughlin, Sarah Brien, Sinead Murphy and Vicky Armstrong.
In the Inter Girls U17 race both Ava Costello and Taylor Stack ran 2,600m. Ava was placed 5th and also ran a great race.
Well done to all the girls. They will be competing again on Thursday 26th January in the North Leinster Schools Cross Country in the Phoenix Park.
